Empire Athletics offers a number of strength and conditioning programs for individuals or organizations seeking advanced strength and conditioning instruction and customized training systems and programs. Empire Athletics has proven success with the general population, professional athletes and elite soldiers. Designed to prepare an individual for his or her physical demands, Empire Athletics programs are aggressive in their design to illicit maximum physiological adaptation with measurable results in as short a time as possible. This is achieved by utilizing cutting edge research in the fields of strength and conditioning, injury prevention, and nutrition, combined with old school training techniques, which allows maximum physical and mental adaptation. The Empire Athletics training prescription relies heavily on Olympic lifting, strength training, plyometric training, core training, speed and agility training, aerobic and anaerobic energy systems training and fundamentals of boxing training in order to achieve the physical results and abilities you require.

All Empire programs are designed so that participants are progressively introduced to more complex and intense movement patterns. The concept behind all Empire programs is to increase the participant’s physical skill set and neuromuscular aptitude. This in turn produces heightened kinetic awareness, maintains health and ensures longevity. The 11 essential athletic skills are continually developed and improved. These include speed, agility, power, strength, mobility, stability, rotational power, anaerobic power, aerobic endurance, kinetic awareness, and mettle.

Every Empire program incorporates old school and new school training techniques and science.

Whether in-season or off-season an athlete must follow a structured strength and conditioning program or risk becoming deconditioned, susceptible to injury or simply left behind in physical and skill development.

Empire offers sport specific programs for individuals, groups, teams and associations. Empire Athletics and Sport Conditioning has built its reputation on developing successful athletes in hockey, skiing, fencing, tennis, rugby, basketball, volleyball, football, lacrosse, mixed martial arts, and track and field.

Understanding an athlete’s window of opportunity is essential. Empire Sport programs are very intense as they aim to maximize strength and conditioning gains in the shortest period of time. However, injury prevention, tissue health and maximizing tissue regeneration and recovery are always a focus.

Athletics sessions offer the individual exposure to the greatest number of strength and conditioning protocols and equipment. With no two workouts the same, in these 75-90 minute sessions, participants will learn and utilize Olympic lifting, body weight exercises, natural movement patterns, boxing, threshold training, core training and running mechanics as it relates to speed, agility and quickness.

The strength and conditioning requirements of tactical operators are identical to professional athletes. However, the physical requirements of an operator differ drastically as a result of operational and environmental factors.

Designed for military, police and fire fighters, Empire’s Tactical program develops an individual’s physical skills to overcome the myriad of daily obstacles that he or she may face on the job, during selection or on deployment. It enhances the individual’s load bearing capacity, endurance, speed and ability to move the body over, under or around obstacles. Empire’s Tactical program prepares the trainee to be explosive, powerful, stable and to endure physical and mental fatigue. It also focuses on rehabilitation and injury prevention. The importance of tissue and joint health is crucial for the seasoned professional.

In this program, youth will be taught elementary training techniques and the theories of correct loading, movement and lifting posture and patterns. As well as the physiological benefits of exercise, this program will improve your child’s health and self esteem while creating a life long passion and enjoyment of physical fitness and activity while developing healthy nutritional habits. Literature will be sent home with participants for parents/guardians to have a greater understanding of what their child is doing in the gym and to promote better habits at home.

Creating a corporate fitness program specific to the rhythm of your company is key to maximizing productivity, attendance and job satisfaction.  Empire, in conjunction with a Human Resources Department, will develop and implement a complete health and fitness program. This may include group specific strength and conditioning sessions, yoga, pilates, boxing (no sparring), and Stretch-Flex programs.

Empire’s Consulting service offers an extensive program designed with the purpose of educating the individual athlete within the organization on current strength and conditioning practices. From warm up to workout to flexibility, and myofascial release to nutrition, the individual trainee will receive information on all current topics related to peak athletic performance.

The Consulting package includes on-site visits by Empire coaches coupled with the Long Distance program.

Empire Athletics offers online long distance training programs that are sport specific to athletes of all ages and levels. Designed to prepare an athlete for his or her sport and the physical demands of competition, Empire Athletics programs are aggressive in their design to illicit maximum physiological adaptation with measurable results. Your Empire Athletics & Sport Conditioning program will be designed based on the equipment and space available to you and will incorporate a variety of Olympic lifting, strength training, plyometric training, core training, speed and agility training, aerobic and anaerobic energy systems training and fundamental boxing techniques.

Empire Athletics monitors and ensures your development by regularly testing your performance in key speed, agility and the strength areas. These tests are simple and easily conducted with a partner or, if necessary, alone. Your test results are then used to continually develop and modify your program and to track your progress through the off-season and in-season.

Coined as “yoga on steroids” by a client, Empire’s Stretch-Flex program, created by owner Ian Fletcher, was created through mixing traditional yoga’s eight most difficult positions coupled with contemporary natural movement pattern research. Fletcher broke down the positions and movements into the Stretch-Flex system ensuring each individual practitioner the ability to achieve optimal control and posture as he or she progresses into more challenging poses.

This high intensity 40 min Super Charged session keeps the participant moving continually for 40 minutes to optimize their time and effort. These sessions are intense but not necessarily limited to the experienced trainee. The workouts are suitable for anyone who wants a structured strength and conditioning program but who has limited time to train.

Ian has been a Strength and Conditioning Coach since 2005 and has worked with amateur and professional athletes, Olympic athletes and soldiers in the Canadian Forces. Ian’s athletic background is primarily in hockey, competing at the NCAA Division I level and professionally in the British National League.
